Donation Guide
Thank you for considering donating to St. Luke’s. We have several ministries we would love your help with. Might I suggest one or more of the following:
We have four different feeding ministries at St. Luke’s. Why?
As you know, the Apostle Peter denied Jesus. This also denied Peter (temporarily) his Apostleship. Note that Peter is not included in the reference to Jesus’ apostles by one of his angels in Mark 16:7 which reads “But go, tell His disciples—and Peter—that He is going before you into Galilee; there you will see Him, as He said to you.”
In Galilee, Peter was reinstated as an Apostle by Jesus as you can see in John 21:15-17:
“So when they had eaten breakfast, Jesus said to Simon Peter, “Simon, son of Jonah, do you love Me more than these?” He said to Him, “Yes, Lord; You know that I love You.”
He said to him, “Feed My lambs.”
He said to him again a second time, “Simon, son of Jonah, do you love Me?” He said to Him, “Yes, Lord; You know that I love You.”
He said to him, “Tend My sheep.”
He said to him the third time, “Simon, son of Jonah, do you love Me?” Peter was grieved because He said to him the third time, “Do you love Me?” And he said to Him, “Lord, You know all things; You know that I love You.”
Jesus said to him, “Feed My sheep.”
The four feeding ministries of St. Luke’s are:
The Soup Kitchen (Saturday Free Lunch). This ministry feeds an average of 25 – 30 people most Saturdays.
The Pantry. This is available for those in need 24 hours per day, re-stocked almost every day.
Life Packs are zip-loc baggies which are filled with useful items for the homeless and then handed out by some. Donations for Life Packs are given through the Special Gift Fund. We hope to produce 75 life packs three times per year.
Food and other items can be brought and put into the basket near the front door of the church the first Sunday of each month.
Other opportunities include:
The Capital Improvement and Restoration fund. We use money from this fund for unusual expenses. Upcoming expenses will include replacing the four water heaters which are all past their normal life spans, the rug in the sanctuary needs to be replaced, cleaning the walls in the sanctuary would be very helpful, and other needs yet to be discovered.
The Altar Guild and ECW (Episcopal Church Women) could both use some donations. ECW uses their funds for annual, usually Christmas giving It varies each year but they try to keep it related to women—YWCA, women's shelters, etc.
The Operating Fund. It appears we will have a deficit budget in 2026, so please consider giving to this fund.
Please write the name of the fund (see the bolded, underlined names above) on the memo line of your check. You can mail your check (see the address above) or put it in the collection plate.
A couple of notes:
Only the amounts you give to the operating fund are credited towards your pledge as that is the only fund to which anyone makes a pledge.
Please do not give more than you can readily afford.
